In contrast to conventional devices our XUV spectrometer does not G r)+O  
require a narrow entrance aperture but rather images the harmonic source kAoai|m@R

This configuration typically collects 15 to 25 times more light than `xSXGI  
standard versions, resulting in a signal-to-noise figure improved by the O_ c K 4

In some experiments, this improved signal strength is the crucial step k8TMdWW

Our instruments are based on high quality aberration-corrected - M]C-$  
flat-field gratings. In contrast to conventional gratings these focus ;3!TOY"j;e  
all wavelengths onto a plane rather than a circle. This allows for -[=`bHo  
positioning the entire detector in the focal plane of the grating for PJLA^eC7>

The spectrometer is very compact and can be bolted directly to a vacuum 4{Iz\:G:{/

of configurations (source distance, spectral range, detectors, vacuum jHd~yCq

The compact design of the spectrometer makes it inherently insensitive +#W5Qb}VR  
against mechanical and environmental disturbances (vibrations, V;m3=k0U  
acoustics, etc). No externally moving parts and closed-loop grating (<ejJPWT  
actuators with absolute position monitoring add to the robustness and p"T4;QBxQ  
allow for monitoring of the grating alignment at all times. loZfzN&6A  
In addition, the concept of a spectrometer without entrance slit also |^1eL I  
makes the instrument less sensitive to misalignment. Under typical _]\mh,}  
operating conditions a misalignment of the beam in the dispersion ()7=(<x{  
direction on the entrance of the spectrometer by 500um would lead to a j_}e%,}  
signal reduction by more than 20% in an instrument with entrance slit [L8gG.wy
