蓝宝石光纤（Sapphire Fiber）独特的物理特性使其可以被用于在极端恶劣的环境型进行采样与探测。例如蓝宝石光纤可以被插入内燃涡轮发动机的燃烧室（the combustion chambers of internal combustion cylinders or turbine engines）中进行探测，以便人们对其进行光谱分析，从而得到关于燃料混合、流速及时间的数据。蓝宝石光纤还可以被用于半导体加工中的fluorine plasmas工序中。 QF"7.~~2
